Newsletter History
In the 1980's an update of the activities in the various RCI
Assemblies arround the world was sent out to all pastors. This
foolscap report, stapled at the top, was issued from Sydney and
posted out on an ad hoc basis.
In 1991, with encouragement from Pastor Lloyd Longfield, a move
was made to upgrade the news on a more formal basis by way of
an A3 sized magazine. This also originated in Sydney, headed up
by Brian Love. The magazine updated the developments and news
from around the world assemblies and was issued four times a year,
mainly to the pastors.
Brian moved to Ashburton, New Zealand in 1993 and passed the
mantle of editor to John Moore, with his wife Wendy acting as
secretary. The magazine initially followed the format originally
set out until 1994 when local and overseas developments resulted
in change to the Newsletter. The magazine then dipped its
toe into the colour photo field. It soon became clear that this
certainly enhanced the Newsletter so it slowly evolved
into a twice-yearly issue, February and July of each year - the
first catching Christmas camps and the second following up on
Easter camps and the Melbourne Rally.
More colour photos were included and for some years Pastor
Graeme McKinstry of Dunedin, New Zealand used his desktop publishing skills to undertake the production side of the newsletter.
As many saints have visited or met with other members of the
church at some time or another, the Newsletter gives them
the opportunity to "catch up" with friends elsewhere
- in other words it is a "news letter".
Newsletter Now
In 2006 the newsletter moved online - and is now produced as a "News" section on the front page of this website. Articles are contributed directly to the site from RCI News Editors from around the world.
You can also subscribe to a news feed using newsreader software.
