Battle of the Bands 2016

My ears are still ringing, heart pounding to the beat of ‘Good Times’ by Thirsty Merc and unable to get these songs out of my head! Battle of the Bands is the most important event on the Melbourne Youngies calendar for all musicians. Days before, the usual dining room gets transformed into a concert hall with strobes, smoke machines and lighting fit for a Justin Timberlake concert! We take our music very seriously! It’s the time when all of our rock stars warm up their vocal chords and get ready for the......

Melbourne Biennial Conference

Last weekend, the Melbourne assemblies played hosts to visitors from country assemblies to assemblies from other countries, for the Revival Centres’ Church Biennial Conference. The theme for the weekend was Speaking in Tongues and featured a talk from Pr Martin Murray about the anatomy and biology of what goes on in the brain when we pray in tongues and talks from Pr Simon Longfield and Pr Vic Samoilenko which emphasised the importance of using the miracle we’ve been given to preach the gospel wherever and whenever we can. No rally would be......

Melbourne Youngies Launch Camp

Australia Day weekend marked the beginning of a new year for the Melbourne Youngies, with its annual launch camp taking place at Freshwater Creek Camp over four action-packed days. Food was in abundance, musicians were plenty, and the rain waited until we’d all left before it came pouring down. Over the course of the weekend we were treated to a number of talks discussing what the Bible had to say about Living the Good Life, how blessed we are to have the Holy Spirit and how it’s applicable in our day-to-day lives.......

Melbourne Youngies Formal

The Melbourne Youngies teams recently scrubbed up and shined their best shoes for the glitz and glam of their night-of-nights … the Formal. From beach days to bouncing on giant trampolines, the Youngies show their versatility, this time donning smart suits and fancy frocks to celebrate the end of what was a truly great year, in style. Overlooking the bay, with the city lights twinkling in the background, the two teams of Power and Ignite were joined by supporters from Sydney, Christchurch and across Victoria at the Royal Victorian Williamstown Yacht Club.......

Victorian Junior Young Revivalists Camp

Another year, another September and another successful year of Young Revivalists’ Camp has passed. Nothing quite matches the excitement of fresh young faces arriving for camp at Weekaway. Full of expectation and a little apprehension, they launch themselves in to every moment with joy and occasionally reckless abandon. The 2015 camp was no exception. Kids came together from as far as Adelaide and Hobart, Victorian country and city assemblies to get to know one another and rejoice in the Lord. Every day was filled with new activities and a lot of noise.......

Victorian Senior Young Revivalists Camp

Young Revivalist Senior camp kicked off early on Saturday morning, while all the young revivalists on the bus were far too awake for that time of morning the leaders on the bus contemplated what they had signed up for. There were the usual activities run including flying fox, archery, craft and canoeing – the young revivalists found new motivation through the leaders ingenious use of water balloons which improved the young revivalist performance greatly and brought everyone closer together. Some new activities were also initiated with the choice to learn and grow......

Ballarat Battle of the Bands

On Sunday, the Melbourne Youngies took their ‘Battle of the Bands’ music concert on the road to the Ballarat Assembly. The Youngies ran the communion meeting with an energetic chorus session, two talks from the Youngies and great testimonies. The Ballarat Assembly supplied a terrific supper for us in the break, which was followed by the concert. We enjoyed performances from the two Melbourne teams Power and Ignite, group/solo performances and songs from both Ballarat and Geelong Youngies as well. Thank you to all who made the road trip up to perform......

Melbourne Youngies - Battle of the Bands

To some it’s a night to show off your talent, to others it’s a night for some good entertainment; whatever your view this ‘Battle of the Bands’ was a great night! The music was loud, the crowd was vibrant and both teams, Power and Ignite, had to bring out the big guns (figuratively speaking) in terms of musical acts for the night. It started with The Big Ray singing his testimony, quite poetic in some points and well worth the listen. Following Ray, an honourable mention to the McKenna’s. What a duo......

What a great night of ‘diner’ food and rock and roll music!! If you weren’t at the Box Hill hall on Saturday night you probably had a very dull evening. If you were there then you know exactly how much fun, food and dancing was enjoyed by the mass that gathered in the hall. The evening was dotted with a delicious array of traditional diner food starting with the roaming entree of fried chicken with Clive’s 11 secret herbs and spices (much better than that Kentucky Fried fellow); a main of hot......

Bendigo assembly along with Shepparton Assembly recently said a fond farewell to Pastor Dick Lynzaat who, after 14 years of faithful ministering to the saints in Bendigo has moved to Warrnambool to be closer to family.  Both Pastor Dick and his wife Judy will be missed in Bendigo, but we know they will be regular visitors and still actively involved in the Lord’s work.   We had an assembly BBQ on the Saturday night, joined by some of the saints from Shepparton assembly.  Then on Sunday we had our communion meeting and......
