The Easter Camp at Freshwater Creek is always a short one but a welcome break from our busy lives. We are able to get away from everyday life with like-minded people and really contemplate the things of God.
The theme of the camp was “He is the Rock, so let’s roll.” What great inspiration for some wonderful talks!
We were reminded that we are the body of Christ and that Jesus is the head, we have liberty in Christ through the Holy Spirit. We also have stability in the Holy Spirit as the Word of God never changes and we are free because we know the right way to live. Pastor Simon’s Sunday talk reminded us to never give the devil credit or importance in our lives but to continue to live a Spirit filled life.
The talks and prayer times were inspiring, but we also had great fun at camp. The fellowship with the Saints is always a blessing and the BBQ and communal get togethers certainly promoted lots of talk and testimony exchange.
The evening entertainment was diverse and should have suited a great number of tastes. Jason Scarlet organised a night where everyone had to construct items that had to serve particular aims. People made newspaper contraptions that had to hold an egg, which, when dropped from a height would not break. Others tried to make vehicles which were air powered. The children particularly enjoyed the constructions. Joel Murray organised a quiz night which was quite tricky but had a variety of themes so people would know at least some answers. Joel Hulme organised a night of musical items and we heard some wonderful singing.
The children at camp had an amazing time, even if they may have over-indulged in chocolate from the Easter egg hunt. The camp is a great place for the young children to make friends with other young people in the Church and it is wonderful to see them interacting with others and not wanting to go home.
All in all, a great time of fellowship, entertainment and spiritual uplifting.
