The Freshwater Creek camp was such an amazing time of talks, testimonies and fellowship. The camp was full, with numerous visitors from both interstate and overseas. It was great to catch up with people we hadn’t seen for some time and to talk to, and get to know, people we may not have spoken to before.
The prayer meetings in the morning were a great time to talk to the Lord and to hear from others what God has been doing in their lives. The formats varied but each meeting was focused on “A Life of Purpose”. Seekers meetings took place during the morning meetings and it was fantastic to see that some of the young people were looking to receive the Holy Spirit. We had two baptisms to celebrate which was exciting.
The highlight of the camp was definitely the New Year’s Eve celebration. The theme was ‘Myths and Legends’. The night began with a magnificent dinner with brisket that had been slow roasting for most of the day, a variety of salads, hot chips and bread rolls. A huge thank you to all who helped put the meal together. It was delicious! Steve Milliken was the MC for the night, introducing the items and adding lots of jokes to the proceedings. Emma Leckenby was amazing when she was introducing all the people who dressed up as Myths or Legends. I don’t think she forgot anyone’s name. There were some wonderful items on the night, and everyone enjoyed it immensely.
On other nights we had games nights, testimony nights, a Jeopardy night and item nights. We had many talented singers and musicians performing and also a wonderful 11-Year-Old Magic show which gets better every year.
Although every aspect of the camp was great, hearing the amazing testimonies of what the Lord has done in people’s lives was a definite highlight.
