Melbourne Book Night

On Sunday 15th October we celebrated the children at the Melbourne Central assembly with our annual “Book Night” presentation. This is traditionally an end-of-year event, but we thought we’d try running it a little earlier to avoid conflicts with all the other events that pop up in December and were rewarded with a fantastic turnout.

The chorus session was a little more interactive than usual, including some classic Sunday School songs with actions. After some encouraging words from Pastor Simon the children were called up in family groups to receive their books. Next we were treated to the Sunday School video presentation, which this year included a hilariously groan-inducing array of puns on the theme of Miracles. After we’d laughed over Moses parting the red “C” and a (venetian) blind man being healed – “not THAT blind man!” – it was time to wrap up the day with some delicious scones with jam and cream.

Thanks to everybody who helped us celebrate our church kids, and the funds raised from the gold-coin-donation scones will go towards kids resources and activities.

The Melbourne assembly in Australia began just after World War 2. It is the headquarters for the Revival Centres Church globally. It is composed of three centres: Central (in Box Hill), Southern (in Mt Eliza) and Western (in Williamstown).
