The Melbourne assembly recently hosted the annual Christmas carols at ‘The Box’, our central meeting hall on Middleborough Road, Box Hill. The choir and band rehearsed for months, ready to perform a wide variety of both secular and more traditional Christmas carols to get people in the festive mood.
Leading up to the concerts, a small group of performers carolled at the local shopping centre, Burwood Brickworks, where leaflets were handed to the shoppers who stopped to listen and sing along.
Sunday started with a communion meeting at 2pm with Pastor Simon bringing a talk about the true gift at the core of Christmas… Jesus the Saviour and Him sending the Holy Spirit . Following this there was an end of year break up supper and time for fellowship before the main concert started at 5pm.
The concert featured a wide array of Christmas-themed songs from solo artists, as well as carols performed by the whole choir which really raised the roof! There were many new faces present who had been brought along by friends, as well as some from the outreach at Brickworks. It was the perfect opportunity to hear about the true meaning of Christmas while partaking in the season’s festivities.
