The Melbourne Youngies made the journey to Freshwater Creek Camp, located just out of Geelong, Victoria for our end of year break-up camp. The weather was not promising with warnings of strong winds and rain… however this didn’t dampen our mood! As everyone arrived on the Friday night, we started off on Saturday morning with a game of badminton in the Pavilion before heading out that afternoon for a hike in the Brisbane Ranges. That night we had a communal dinner at the rotunda, followed by a games night around camp.
Sunday we were right into it with our Communion Meeting in the Pavilion, with choruses, two talks from the Youngies and the communion service where we operated the spiritual gifts. One of the talks was on ‘Always Being Ready’ to put God first and walk in the spirit (2Timothy 1v6 & Matthew 25v1). The second talk was about ‘Respecting God’ where we were reminded that we need not fear what life can throw at us (Genesis 26v24). The camp wrapped up with a communal lunch before making the trek back to Melbourne. It was a great weekend away and we look forward to the Melbourne Youngies Formal next Saturday!
