Melbourne Youngies Formal
The Mighty Team of Jericho.
On Friday 2nd December the Rossdale Golf Course in Aspendale held the “night of nights” for the Melbourne Young Peoples group- the formal! This last event of the year included a three course meal (hold the spam) punctuated with lively entertainment and awards.
The coveted awards included the “Ken” and “Barbie” awards for the nights best dressed, “Rookie of the year” for the most involved of this years newest Youngies, “Most supportive team member” recognizing people’s contribution to their teams and awards for the many and varied young people’s events held throughout the year.
The teams of Eden and Micah received honorable mentions for their effort while the team of Zion received the runners up trophy. The top prize, the Shield of Faith which has been around since 1967, went to the team of Jericho, ably captained by Tristan and carefully tidied by vice-captain Axel.
A sad point of the night was the announcement that long time Youngies leader Joel Murray would not be continuing in that role next year. We are very appreciative of all the time and effort he has put in to making Youngies amazing over the past 7 years.
A fantastic evening was had by all, the perfect ending to a year of fun and fellowship. Bring on 2012 for another exciting year of Youngies. See you all at the National Youth Rally at Freshwater Creek- 9th – 12th March 2012.

What a fantastic night of fellowship. Thank You to everyone for making the evening so enjoyable. Go the team of Jericho!
Well done Jericho! Thank you Joel for many years of service to such an important part of the Church!
And thank you Axel and the rest of the team for being so supportive of myself and Shorty while we’ve had a ‘rather massive’ year : )
