Melbourne Youngies Masterchef Cooking Night

Masterchef

On Saturday night the Melbourne Youngies gathered at the glorious kitchen showroom at Camberwell Electrics. The ovens were on, the sinks were ready and of course the ingredients were laid out for all to see.
The menu was as follows hand rolled pumpkin ravioli with a burnt butter sauce, chicken Kiev served with a delicious array of vegetables and a selection of delectable desserts: vanilla panna cotta with berry compote, blue berry muffins and Florentines.
At first glance the challenge was daunting, but both teams didn’t let the chef prepared menu put them off.

Pasta was rolled, pumpkin was mashed and sweat dripped down the brow of those taking care of the chicken to ensure it was as tender and flavourful to impress the judges.

The call came for plating up and teams frantically searched for beautiful plates or silverware to make their creations stand out.
The judging was done by none other than Matt Preston (Brendan Kay) and George Calombaris (Alex Pal) both dressed appropriately for the evening.
The tasting was an experience, both teams delivered edible food. Some of which was slightly better or more flavourful than others. At the end of the day everyone had a fabulous night and showed their team spirit with some great cooking skills as well; Definitely an event not to miss next year.
Well done to the teams of Ignite and Power!
