Personal Story: Axel
I have been brought up in a family who attend the Revival Centres Church where we believe that God answers our prayers and He is active in our lives. We went to meetings on a Sunday, housemeetings on Wednesday nights and assembly activities whenever they were on. Listening to many talks and reading the bible, I realised I needed to seek for the Holy Spirit as evidenced in the bible by speaking in tongues.
At a Freshwater Creek Christmas camp, I started speaking in tongues while at a seekers meeting and was baptised as directed in the bible. I didn’t notice any immediate change, but I knew that I had done what the scriptures instruct us to do to be right with God. The big change for me came when I was in high school where I really noticed the difference between how people live their lives, compared with how the bible instructs us to live.
Seeing this difference encouraged me to delve further into the bible; to listen at Sunday meetings and to confirm that I was making the right decision to do things God’s way. God has since proven Himself to me by answering my prayers, filling me with the Holy Spirit and guiding my path. I’ve been blessed through my years at school and while studying at University, and my work experience position carried through to become my full time job.
Through the years, I’ve been blessed to grow up going to Christmas, Easter, Young Revivalists Camps and Conventions. More recently I’ve been a part of Youngies, where we’ve put on plays, concerts, fancy dress parties and youth rallies all aimed at glorifying God and encouraging people in the Church. Being a part of a unified Church where I can enjoy fellowship with other people is the best place to be.
I thank God for the direction He gives me, looking after me in the good times and guiding me through the tougher times! I know any issues that come up against me I can deal with, knowing He is with me. I strongly suggest to anyone who hasn’t given God a shot, to consider what the bible says, pray to God and expect that He will answer.
