My name is Ewelyn and I live in South Tyrol, Northern Italy. My journey with the Lord began in autumn 2012. Growing up in a Catholic family, which is usual in South Tyrol, I loved going to church and listening to the Bible stories read out to me as a child.
Later, as a teenager, I began to make up my own faith, in which God only played a very marginal role. He was very far away for me, and I couldn’t see His work in my life.
When my sister started attending Revival Centres meetings in autumn 2012, she began to tell my whole family and me about a God who wants to have a relationship with every single person, you just have to want it. Initially I wasn’t very happy about hearing all of this. I even forbid her to continue telling me about God. However, as my sister can be a very stubborn person, she didn’t stop telling me more about the God of the Bible. When I then heard about healings and miracles, I began to realise that God really wants to have a relationship with us humans, under the condition, you let Him into your life. Now I got very curious and started asking my sister lots of questions. She invited me to a meeting, and I went along.
In that meeting she was baptised by full immersion. All of this, my sister’s baptism and the meeting, touched me deeply. When I came home, I went to my bedroom and asked God to give me His Holy Spirit. After praying Hallelujah for a few minutes I started speaking in tongues, a new language God has given to me, just as the Bible says in Acts 2:38. I felt a joy and peace within me that I had never felt before.
Two weeks later I was baptised by full immersion in water, as the Bible tells us to do. Within a few months, my whole family came to the Lord. Since then, God has always been there for us, in every situation. During my childhood and teenage years, I had severe anxiety problems. I was afraid of death in general and it had a huge impact to my life. My parents sent me to several psychologists which couldn’t take away this fear, but the Lord did, because He is able.
The year 2020 was not easy for many of us. As a nurse, I experienced the pandemic on the front line and can only say that I was not afraid during this uncertain time, but always felt the peace of the Lord within me and knew that He was holding me firmly in His hand and carrying me through this difficult time.
I am grateful to the Lord to be part of such a great and wonderful plan and to know that He will lead us through every situation in life and blesses those abundantly who follow His Word.
Amen
