Personal Story: Francis
My name is Francis Khembo, I am from Malawi Africa. I was born in 1985 in a family of seven children.
I was brought up in a Catholic church because that’s where my parents used to fellowship in those days; at this time, I didn’t know anything about the Lord. But when I was 17 years old, I met one of the pastors from Chirimba Revival Centre’s church who talked to me about Jesus Christ and receiving the power of the Holy Spirit with the sign of speaking in tongues.
It was my first time hearing this about the Lord, although by that time I was fully committed to the Roman Catholic church. It wasn’t easy to believe what they were telling me, but in my heart something was telling me that this is the truth that I needed to follow. After I heard this, I went to attend the Revival Centre mid-week meeting, because I wanted to find out more about what I had heard from the pastor.
Then, during the meeting, as pastor Nelson was giving the talk, he said exactly what the other pastor told me from the book of Acts 2 v 37, so I was so encouraged by the talk. By the time he was calling people to come and pray to receive the Holy Spirit I stood up first because I already felt a joy in my heart.
While he was praying with me, suddenly my tongue changed, and I began to speak in another tongue. From that moment I knew that I had received the Holy Spirit and I was so happy and full of joy, knowing that I had come to know the truth and I was free. The following week on Sunday at the church meeting I was baptized in water, it was lovely.
I remember I was so young, but I was brave enough to make my choice to choose what is right as opposed to living in darkness. Since then, my life has been so wonderful in the Lord. I have been blessed with a beautiful wife and 3 kids. I never regret choosing the Lord in my life.
There are times of trouble in my life, difficult times in my family, even here in Africa. Here where we are in Malawi, things are so hard sometimes, but the joy that I have in the Lord it makes me forget about my worries and turn my focus to the Lord.
I am glad that I’m one of the youth leaders here in Malawi and I get to do God’s work, encouraging young people to stay closer to God. That’s my focus. I’m also happy to be able to meet people from Revival Centres visiting from overseas, particularly from Australia.
Such amazing people I have met face to face and I really I appreciate their time and effort. Every time they visit Africa, they bring joy to me and to the family of Revival Centres Church. I am so happy to be part of God’s family and am looking forward to meeting everyone in the air when the trumpet sounds and I know there are still many more to meet before that time.
Thank you and God bless.
