Personal Story: Hilary

Personal Story: Hilary

My testimony begins with my parents who received the Holy Spirit before I was born. Consequently, I was raised in an environment where we knew God was real, we automatically prayed, we saw miracles – this was all normal. One night I woke up from a nightmare, frightened, and I automatically prayed, and a language I had never learned flowed out of my mouth. I felt instantly flooded with peace and went back to sleep. Some time later I spoke to my parents about this and I was baptised in accordance with scripture.

My life has been blessed with not just the knowledge of God, but also the physical manifestation of his power in my life. When I pray, I feel the peace of the holy spirit. When I’m sad, I feel comforted. When happy, I am filled with the joy of the Lord – that is the sure and true knowledge of the existence of God, that He participates in my life, that He has incorporated me into His plan and purpose, that He loves me and chose me to be His daughter.

Life is by no means perfect. There have been many challenges growing up, and having my own children. We often don’t know the answers and are worried or confused. But God is always there, peaceful and secure, and guiding our footsteps as we look to him. The bible uses the terms “peace that passes understanding” and “joy unspeakable and full of glory” and I have certainly lived a life filled with these blessings.

God promises a future with Him, indescribable and glorious, and I will wait patiently with great excitement for the day He returns.
