A great time of fellowship was had at our annual Freshwater Creek Christmas Camp, located just out of Geelong in Victoria, as we said goodbye to yet another year and welcomed 2020. The Aussie summer heat that enveloped the days was relentless, however the pool served the young kids well, and the cold drinks fridge provided great relief for the rest of us. The Monday brought upon us an extreme fire risk situation; however, we were all prepared escaping early to ice-cold cinemas, shops and to the beach for the day.
Most of the days consisted of morning and night meetings, and loud voices echoed joyfully out through the camp as we gathered to sing to the God’s name. We were all greatly uplifted while hearing many testimonies about the healings and blessings that the God provides in people’s everyday lives, and the beautiful and talented items brought encouraging words and scriptures to light.
The theme of the camp was God’s Precision, and it was great to hear from some of the younger guys in the fellowship about different topics. Lewis highlighted the important point that the world will divide on anything, but that a greater understanding of the Lord’s plan has been given to us by Him. Jason encouraged us to be instant in season and out of season and warned us about becoming complacent. Darren talked about God’s plan and how we are to stick to the salvation and foundation that we have in Jesus, keeping to the specifics of his instruction. We were reminded by Brendan to keep ourselves clean, sanctified and close to the Lord.
Many more thoughts were shared over the camp period about God’s precision and how we as saints are not to be off target. Don’t look down at your feet; focus on God! The Lord is precise. We have his Spirit dwelling in us, so stay close to Him.
Heroes and villains ran wild on New Year’s Eve, there were many Spider-men, Weasleys, Wonder-women, unicorns and Iron men that came to save the day. A popcorn machine provided the goods, and an amazing roast dinner assisted the awesome night of fellowship that brought 2019 to an end.
The remaining amount of time surrounding the meetings was jam packed with a colour fun run, cake stall and sausage sizzle fundraisers, trips down to Torquay for much needed ice-cream and New Year’s Eve Disney karaoke! The upgraded toilet block was also much appreciated! Thank you to everyone who put time and effort into that restoration.
Overall, another Freshie camp turned out to be a great success, and we all departed with built up spirits and invigorated drive to follow and spread God’s Precision in 2020.
