RCC PNG, Respect Conference Report

Pastor’s from Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea have just concluded a Zone pastors and wives meeting held in Papua New Guinea.

The event, which involved months of planning, was held over two days, and was hosted in Lae, near the Busu assembly. In a first for the work in PNG, the Pastors wives were invited and enjoyed the proceedings too.

Pastor Simon opened the conference with a presentation on the many level’s of “Respect”. We respect each other; we respect the Word of God; and of course, we respect God – because He first respected, or loved us!

Pastor Graeme McKinstry (Dunedin), presented a wonderful presentation on the “Role of women in the Bible”; Pastor Justin Kells (Brisbane), a forthright presentation on “God’s Culture”; Pastor David Manley (Palmerston North), a compelling presentation on the “End Times”; Pastors Sacky and Alphonse (PNG), an insightful presentation on “Law and Order”; Pastor Simon Wahl (PNG), engaged with a  presentation on “Communication”; Pastor Joel Hulme (Melbourne), spoke clearly about “Generational Succession”; Pastor Datoano (PNG), presented an expert view on “Marriage”, and the local Pastor Misheck spoke on the “Role of Women in the PNG Church”.

With a plethora of topics, discussions, question times, and down time, Pastor Darcy steered us through an uplifting time of unity that will be remembered for many years to come.

A major segment of the program was hosted by Pastor Joel Hulme relating to the use of zoom for future Pastors gatherings. This involved real-time screening of zoom and loading apps onto the smart phones of many. This culminated in the live screening of the African Pastors fortnightly meeting, where we all enjoyed Pastor Nelson (Malawi), sharing some thoughts and we reciprocated with Pastor Datoano sharing his testimony on zoom – a wonderful connection! The delight from both sides of the world seeing each other was palpable.

On Sunday we ventured to the local assembly Busa. Inspiriting talks from the visiting Pastors were enjoyed by many hundreds of our Papuan friends.

Pastors Simon and Darcy stayed a little longer on the Monday and opened our new hall in Hohola, Port Moresby. The icing on the cake – a young woman was baptised and received the Holy Spirit!

What does one say – God is Good!
