The Melbourne assembly hosts the Revival Centres Church Conference biannually and this year’s theme was ‘The Peace of God’. The conference runs over the Queen’s Birthday weekend and is attended by our Victorian, interstate and international assemblies. The visitors came in droves to rejoice and be edified by presentations, songs and the communion of saints. Melbourne, known for having four seasons in one day, decided to put on only one type of weather display this weekend, rain. With plenty of layers, hot beverages and enthusiastic singing of songs the weather did not......

My name is Francis Khembo, I am from Malawi Africa. I was born in 1985 in a family of seven children. I was brought up in a Catholic church because that’s where my parents used to fellowship in those days; at this time, I didn’t know anything about the Lord. But when I was 17 years old, I met one of the pastors from Chirimba Revival Centre’s church who talked to me about Jesus Christ and receiving the power of the Holy Spirit with the sign of speaking in tongues. It was......

I used to be of the opinion that religious people were weak and insipid. My own philosophy was to enjoy all that life had to offer without thinking too much about the consequences. In time my attitudes began to change, and I started to take an interest in the Bible and its message of salvation through Jesus Christ. I began to visit a multitude of church denominations, asking questions and seeking advice on how to live the Christian life, but realised after about a year that living a Christian life was an......

During my childhood I lived in a village in Hampshire, UK and attended a local denominational church. I always believed in God and as a child living in the countryside, it seemed logical that such a beautiful creation had to have a creator. I remember very clearly my confirmation and being bitterly disappointed when the Bishop anointed me with the oil and said, “Receive ye the Holy Spirit” and nothing happened. Many years later I was married with two young children and living in Australia. I was still searching for answers and......

I went to Sunday school, like kids do. Learned about Bible characters – Adam & Eve, Noah, David & Goliath, Jesus. I had no idea what was going on, but they were nice, fun stories. That’s all they were though… stories. Stories that were stuck in the pages of a book that I struggled to bring to life in my imagination. As I grew older I started to pick up on people’s general cynicism towards religion. People who had had powerless encounters with an unknown and distant God – a God who......

I never used to believe in God. Like my family and so many other Australian families I didn’t believe in anything and was content not believing in anything. Looking back however, I see that God was there all along and guiding me to a personal relationship with Jesus. An example of this is that all my best friends growing up with at school turned out to be from Christian families. I can remember one time I went to a friend’s house for a sleepover and we were about to all eat dinner......

I was brought up in a very religious family. So I went to both a church primary and secondary school. My father always wanted us to think about things. When I wanted to make things, he would suggest getting a book from the library. I would then design a rocket or a radio circuit and make it. Dad and I would test it and then he would ask “Think, how do you make it better”. Always, think logically. I was a very committed person to God up until I started part time......

Hi, my name is Emma, My testimony starts back in early 1983. I had seen a change in my brother and he told me that he had received a personal experience from God after he decided to get baptized one night at a Revival Centres meeting. After being baptised, he was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues (a language he had not learnt or heard before but given to him by God). I decided to go to a few meetings as, I must admit, I was a bit worried......

My name is Edward Petersen. When I was quite young, around 9 years old, I was going to Sunday school at an Anglican Church that my mum was attending. After the meeting one week my mum asked me if I liked going, to which I said that it was boring, and no one seemed happy to be there; she told me that she felt the same and we never went again. About 4 years later my mum met the parents of one of my sister’s classmates and they told her all about......

I was a full time DJ and night club promoter working for several of Melbourne’s night clubs when I decided to get baptised. That choice changed my life for the better far beyond anything I ever dreamt or imagined was possible. I had reached a point in my life where I had lost all my faith in any sort of religion or belief. My mother was a faithful woman who had received something called the Holy Spirit, but I never was interested in her experience or the church she attended. When she......
