The New is in the Old

Are you aware that the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is so clearly documented in the New Testament, was also foretold thousands of years earlier in the Old Testament. Is this coincidence, or is it all a part of God’s great design?

The following is a list of Old Testament verses which clearly show that Jesus is the Messiah and foretell the Gospel of His birth, death, resurrection, through to His return and the judgement.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST IS ALSO IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

THE BIRTH OF JESUS – BORN OF A VIRGIN
Isaiah 7v14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

HE WAS BORN IN BETHLEHEM
Micah 5v2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

THE ANOINTING OF JESUS WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
Isaiah 61v1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;…

JESUS MINISTRY IN GALILEE
Isaiah 9v1 Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. 2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

JESUS RIDING INTO JERUSALEM ON A DONKEY
Zechariah 9v9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

JESUS BETRAYED BY JUDAS FOR 30 PIECES OF SILVER
Zechariah 11v12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. 13 And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.

JESUS SUFFERINGS UPON THE CROSS
Psalm 22v1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? 16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. 17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. 18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

THE DEATH OF JESUS
Daniel 9v26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS
Psalm 16v10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

THE ASCENSION OF JESUS
Psalm 68v18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.

THE NEW TESTAMENT (COVENANT)
Jeremiah 31v31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

GRACE AND FORGIVENESS
Psalm 32v1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

THE OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Joel 2v28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

THE EVIDENCE OF SPEAKING IN TONGUES
Isaiah 28v11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. 12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

THE BIRTH OF THE CHURCH (CONGREGATION)
Psalm 22v22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

THE LORD’S RETURN
Malachi 4v1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

THE MILENNIUM (1000 YEARS OF CHRIST’S RULE IN PEACE)
Isaiah 11v6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full ofthe knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

THE JUDGEMENT AND EVERLASTING LIFE
Daniel 12v2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
