Victorian Young Revivalists Senior Camp

This year’s Victorian Young Revivalist Camp started with the Senior Camp, bright and early on the first Saturday of the Victorian School Holidays. We got straight into it, breaking into our teams of War, Famine and Pestilence. The theme for this year was ‘End of Days’ and the scripture for camp: Acts 2 v 17: ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my spirit upon all flesh’.  A grim theme some might think, but we focused on the positives of how God is our rock and how the Holy Spirit is our refuge from the issues that surround us every day.

The usual activities of canoeing, flying fox, craft, chocolate melting, archery, bike riding, etc… were enjoyed by all campers in addition to meetings held throughout the day. In the meetings the Young Revivalists run the choruses, play the music, give the talks from the bible and open and close in prayer. We had a sports afternoon, where we played volleyball, basketball and soccer on rotation, there was even a leaders team… who were soundly flogged! We had our meeting under the stars on the big rock and the famous BBQ/damper lunch.

On the last night of camp we held our graduation for the Year 8’s who have finished Young Revivalists and now move into Youngies. Quite a few parents came along and joined in the celebrations. Later that night we had the big concert where each team displayed their banner, performed their song and play. It was a great night and ultimate victory was to the team of Famine for the quality of their performances, hard work on duties and keeping their rooms clean! It was a very memorable camp; a great time was had by all. Can’t wait for next year!
