Young Revivalists Senior Camp

The Points Officer with the boys from ‘One Direction’.

Our annual Young Revivalists camp for the Senior members (school years 7 & 8, plus older ‘Revivalists’) is held at a tranquil rural retreat called Weekaway, 1 ½ hours’ drive northwest of Melbourne. This year the weather was superb which made the outdoor activities even more enjoyable!

The theme of the camp was ‘Come & Dine’ based on Matthew 5 v 6: ‘Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.’ In keeping with this verse, the team names were:

– Lasagne.

– Chicken Wraps.

– Saucy Choc Pudding.

All of the above being ‘favourite’ meals of both the leaders and children who attend the camp at Weekaway.

Time, was divided between the more physical activities such as canoeing, flying fox, mountain bike riding, archery, go go golf and craft – chocolate making, beading, wood burning, etc… Plenty of ‘team time’ was devoted to getting to know each other and devising a team banner, song and play for the final graduation night. On this evening, the Year 8’s are presented with a certificate to signify their graduation from ‘Young Revivalists’ to ‘Youngies”.

There was a very special performance at one of the dinners by the popular group, ‘One Direction’! Yes, they managed to impress the ‘Points Officer’ and scored extra points for their team! If you’re considering coming next year… just do it! We’d love to see you there! GET EXCITED!!
