9 saints travelled to Malawi in August.  Once again, we saw things, experienced things and had conversations that provoked us, inspired us and delighted us in things of the Lord. 187 people were filled with the Spirit, but we shouldn’t think of this as just a numbers game.

There is so much we gain from our Malawian experience – the energising of our own spiritual relationship with God; the genuine friendship we have with our Malawian brothers and sisters; the understanding that the need for God transcends all cultures and lifestyles, and a deepening knowledge of what the Lord has done in our lives.

We take these experiences back to share with our own assemblies for the benefit of all. We see the Lord in the context of our own lives. To be in a completely different environment and see the Lord work gives us a greater understanding of our own relationship with God.

Along the way are things we hold in our mind’s eye:

– The girl who comes up in the prayer line supported by 2 friends – all three receive the Holy Spirit,

– The man who goes to some effort to speak to Phil.  Through an interpreter he tells Phil he was prayed for last year when he could barely walk; he was healed in the prayer line and is walking without any trouble,

– The woman who comes up to have prayer for her fevered child, the hot skin of the child growing cool during the prayer,

– The moment of so many receiving the Holy Spirit, the tears running down their face, completely lost in the moment.

Malawi is a cure for the daily grind, a remedy for thinking our lives are normal and a reminder of the miracle the Lord has worked in our own lives as we see the Holy Spirit bestowed on others.
