Hamper Auction for Malawi

The Sydney assembly had an exciting auction yesterday around 30 hampers containing all sorts of goodies, with the proceeds going to the relief fund for our Malawi brothers and sisters. People were very generous both in putting the hampers together and also bidding (sometimes with great intent!) on them. The contents including things such as food, chocolates (of course) tea or coffee packs, movie tickets, a beach themed hamper, lollies, jelly beans, items from New Zealand, dinner made at your place (or ours), supper for six, a hamper for the house meeting......

A Workshop Prayer and Fast

Who said an assembly prayer and fast cannot be fun? With our move to the Brisbane CBD in September 2015 the assembly has been interacting with people from all walks of life. Recently, the assembly came together for a workshop on witnessing, including discussion of how to interest those people who think they don’t like religion. Over the four hours, we had ministry and roundtable planning and some extremely funny and educational live drama. We ended the session, and the fast, with a rewarding afternoon tea....

Beach Walk - Northern Tasmania

A keen group of of the Tassie saints gathered on Saturday 13 February to take the trek over the Asbestos Range from Badger’s Head to Baker’s Beach. It was planned as a four hour walk, but some trekkers may have taken a tad longer. Anyhow, at the end of the day, a wonderful twilight barbecue was enjoyed by the trekkers (and those who drove in) at the Narawntapu National Park site. The Park lies on Tasmania’s north coast, adjoining Bass Strait, between Port Sorell in the west and the mouth of the......

Variety Night at the Town Hall.

This, the last weekend in February, marked the annual South Gippsland Assembly camp at the Toora Tourist Park. There were 80 adults plus children along with many day visitors staying at the park who converged on the Welshpool Community Hall, joining members from Melbourne (Mt Eliza & Box Hill) & Central West Gippsland (Morwell). On Saturday people mingled, chatted, drank tea & ate cake or visited one of the many surrounding beauty spots. Saturday evening was a variety night of fun & games ably chaired by Pastor Justin Lloyd. At the Sunday......

A day in the sun

On Saturday 28 January a few of us headed up Mount Tomaree in Port Stephens NSW. After we soaked in the view from 161 metres above sea level we headed back down and enjoyed some fish N chips and a swim. On our way back in to Newcastle we stopped in to Oakvale Farm to meet some furry friends. Here are a couple of snap shots of a fun (hot) day.  ...

Goondiwindi Outreach

HISTORY: Goondiwindi /ɡʌndəˈwɪndi/ (Queensland, Australia) is a town of approximately 5,629 people. The town has an annual population growth of 1.4 percent. The name Goondiwindi derives from an Aboriginal word meaning “the resting place of the birds” (Wikipedia). It was the weekend of 6 and 7 February when saints from the Dubbo, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast assemblies traveled to Goondiwindi for a weekend of outreaching and fellowship. It was great to show support for Mick and Olivia who have been living in this beautiful town for 18 months. The locals......

Melbourne Sunday School book night

The Melbourne Assembly at Box Hill recently held their Sunday School Book Night with a meeting devoted to children. The meeting included looking into the scriptures, listening to a talk on what the bible says about bringing up children in the church. Families were welcomed up to the stage to accept CD’s and books, then were entertained with a video of what the children had been up to over the year. A big thank you to Hilary Travers for running the Sunday School and all the helpers that offer their time weekly......

Melbourne Southern Christmas concert

On Sunday 13 December the Mount Eliza (Melbourne Southern) assembly celebrated their “End of Year Breakup Sunday School Book Night Concert”. The theme was loosely based on Noah’s Ark, which accounted for the abundance of stuffed and balloon animals as well as the impressive cascade of tinsel ‘water’ flowing off the stage. Pastor Justin was looking quite ‘bible characterish’ in his Noah costume but could have easily been mistaken for Gandalf the Grey. The local house meetings performed group items which gave everyone the opportunity to be involved and there were many......

Across the Nullarbor

Pastor Simon, his brother Jon, Alex, and Chris, crossed the Nullarbor twice to visit the saints in Perth. The four motorcyclists from Melbourne spent many hours in the saddle on some of the longest, straightest roads on the planet. A long journey, over 4,000 kms each way, but worth every moment. Arriving in Fremantle on Saturday for lunch they met with Pastor Trevor and George. The day concluded with a sumptuous dinner with all assembly members. A wonderful time of fellowship. The meeting on Sunday included all the usual components – choruses,......
